In 2014, Lisa Konno (23) graduated at the Fashion Design department of ArtEZ in Arnhem. Driven by the urge to make recycling fashionable she developed her Extended Materials collection. Extended Materials criticizes the wasteful ways of the textile industry but is not afraid to do so in a vibrant and optimistic manner. Currently based in Amsterdam, Lisa Konno continues to develop new ways and techniques to make sustainability fashionable and fashion sustainable.
In January 2015 she made her Amsterdam Fashion Week debut with her For the workers collection. For the workers is an ‘anti-sweatshop statement’ that aims to not only create awareness about the circumstances in the fast fashion industry but also contribute to ideas on how to create fashion in a socially and environmentally sustainable way.
